You are NOT Part of the Mainstream
Let’s face it. For those of us who have been called into the world of energetic healing and transformation we are not part of the mainstream. Come on, you know who you are! Admit it. You are the ones who regularly use the words: transformation, energetic healing, distance healing, guides, intuition, psychic gifts, ascension, and more!
What You Do is REAL
The work we do is wonderful, amazing and real! Those who resonate with energetic work will find us; they will find the modality that is best for them at just the right moment in their life.
How do You Make it REAL for Everyone?
And you all know that the work you do could benefit everyone, even those who have not discovered it yet. So, how do you speak to “them”, the people who do not know about the benefits of the work you offer (the ones I lovingly refer to as “the muggles”)? How do you make the work you do real for those who have not jumped into the world of healing and transformation on the energetic levels?
Bridging the Gap
First of all, can you relate to them? Can you understand how and why the work you do might sound “airy fairy”, “out there”, or just down right crazy? Can you understand them without feeling critical or judgmental? Do you remember the time when you would have thought the same way? This is the first step in making your move to bridge the gap between you, the work you offer, and their perceptions.
Make Your “Real Life” List
Next, I encourage all of you to make a “Real Life” list. No matter what modality you offer, what are the “Real Life“ benefits that people experience? If you find yourself using more esoteric terms such as “transformation”, I challenge you to find a way to make it more concrete. What does “transformation” look like in the real world, to “the muggles”? How does each person’s life change? What are the real aspects of their life that might be different?
Here are some of the concrete outcomes your clients might experience:
- Physical Healing
- Relief from pain
- Greater energy levels that allow them to play with their children, play golf, etc
- Mental clarity
- Relief from emotional blockages or issues such as depression or anxiety
- Greater athletic performance in sports, yoga, and the like
- Improved relationships through forgiveness, compassion, understanding, and more
- Ease in learning for children with Autism, Asperger’s, ADD or ADHD
Meet them where they are at so the journey to find you and what you offer is easy, sensible, logical and desired.
Support in Growing Your Practice
Developing your business, attracting your new clients, finding new ways to communicate your message can all be enhanced through the Akashic Records. Good reminder to pay attention to language and how we talk about what we do. There was a time when I would roll my eyes at the mere mention of such things that I now call my vocation! Part of that had to do with the “airy fairy” words I heard people use to describe what they were doing. Part of it also had to do with me just not understanding something other than the concrete world I was familiar with.
Compassion and experience has taught me a few things, thank God, so I’m far more willing to be patient and clear with those who may not “get” what I do. Your suggestions are very helpful. Time to get practical!

Glad you appreciated the reminder about our languaging as well as our thoughts and attitudes! Once we can see it from the “other side” we know how to meet them where they are at…and for most of us we were all there too at one time or another.

I have inwardly labeled a lot of the people I know (especially family) as mainstream or “muggles” as you call them. You know, the ones that just don’t “get it” yet. This has prevented me from telling them what I do.
You have just exposed me to some great insights that will help me overcome my judgements and taught me ways to reach out to the muggles.

I feel we are in alignment with our path or mission as healers if we keep our minds open to all, both those who relate to what we are doing and those who have not yet found a need for alternative methods. I have had so many clients who have had very serious health concerns who were just beginning their search into the alternative realms when they came to the work I was doing. It takes courage to step beyond what we “know” and move into a realm we are unfamiliar with so I honor all who are willing to find another way. I also enjoy the challenge of finding the ways to introduce people into the world I live in so that they too have more choices on their path.

Perhaps someone even made something really clear that once seemed confusing to us. They took the time to see where we were at in our understanding and connect with us at that point which allows us to move forward. Also, I feel it is so important for all of us to not carry any kind of “metaphysical elitism”. We are all on this journey together and we all need support, understanding, knowledge and information!
